Duties/Description: The Town of Hudson is seeking an innovative, dynamic, and experienced full time Library Director to work effectively with trustees, staff, patrons, and public officials. The successful candidate will oversee and direct library operations including public services, collections management, technology, administration and facilities management. A visionary approach to library service along with patience, diplomacy and a sense of humor, and a willingness to actively involve the library in community affairs are requisites.
Skills: Directing public library operations, programs and services; ensuring the delivery of quality library programs and services to the community
Developing and implementing library goals, objectives, policies and procedures; responding to and resolving complex issues and complaints involving library related matters and personnel
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others; developing and administering budgets and monitoring expenditures
Problem solving, supervising, leading and delegating tasks and authority
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an A.L.A. accredited library school; minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional library experience, including management and supervisory experience
Considerable knowledge in the principles and practices of general administration and supervision with extensive knowledge of the methods, policies, practices, principles, and procedures of professional library work
Strong team-builder experience in a union environment
Ability to clearly articulate strong advocacy for library services and be able to advance library goals with creative use of limited resources
Strong customer service focus to ensure our patrons receive the help and support they deserve, and possess knowledge of library trends, emerging technologies and electronic resources and be fluent with library and office technology.
Hours: This 37.5 hour full‑time position is available July 2019.
Salary: The Library Director is a grade level M-8 on the Town’s Management Pay Scale, with a salary range of $71,284 to $93,804 in eight steps.
