Summer Reading Comic-Con: SPACE!

Wednesday, July 19th from 5:30-7:00pm

Below are some of the great events and activities we’ll have for you.  From the comics to the artists to the costume contest to the crafts to the space-themed trivia, we have a bit of something for everyone.

This is a drop-in program for all ages so come dressed in your best space-y costume or just your favorite costume and join us in the Children’s Room for our very first Comic-Con!

Artist Alley:

A great selection of space-themed art, comics, and information on future events will be available on display. Details are listed below for all of our fabulous con-artists and writers so check these folks out:

The folks at Reckless Sidekick Productions are the promoters for the family-friendly Plastic City Comic con! They also independently write and publish 4 different comic book titles, original artists’ prints, activity books, collected editions, and more!

Free Comics!

Costume Contest:

  • Registration opens at 5:30pm in the Children’s Room. Be sure to register so you can be a part of this fabulous contest and show off your costume!
  • Contest starts at 6:30pm in the Children’s Room stage. Everyone who registers will get a chance to be on stage and strike a pose for our judges!
  • Prizes will be given to our winners!

Photo Booth:

Head over to the Photo area to take a selfie or two with our:

  • Wonder Woman Cutout
  • Starry Sky Backdrop
  • Alien and Astronaut Head Cutouts
  • Mystery Guest from the 501st Legion – Vader’s Fist

Remember, if you want to take someone’s picture because you think they have a fabulous costume, just be sure to ask first!

Crafting:

Make your own R2D2 and/or Yoda Crafts!

Trivia:

Which will prevail and reign supreme across all of time and space (or at least across all of the Hudson Public Library)? Star Wars or Star Trek? Take part in the trivia battles to determine the winner!

Face-painting:

Want a swooping Star Wars X-wing on your face? Or maybe a regal Star Trek Star Fleet Insignia? Stop by the face-painting area to make it happen!
